Students in the Professional Technical Writing course complete two of the four assignments as a group. The other courses offer work for those students who would like to collaborate on projects. Arrangements can be made for students who wish to complete the work on their own.
What is the structure of your courses?
Please check our learning model.
Why do I some of the courses come with a CD?
Some of our courses require you to use the XMLSpy software application. As a result, the download sizes for the course materials would have been approximately 50-60MB. We didn't think it was reasonable to make you download 50-60MB. The download sizes for courses NOT requiring XMLSpy are between 8MB and 15MB. These can reasonably be downloaded over the Internet. The reason we allow you to download the materials is so that you can work offline with the materials if you like. Some of our students prefer to work on the course materials offline and then logon to attend chat sessions, post messages to the discussion board, submit assignments, or read their email.
What software and hardware do I need for a course?
You need a computer (500 MHz or faster), a minimum of 32MB memory, an 800 x 600 monitor, 35 MB of disk space is required for any of the courses using XML and an additional 40 MB of disk space during installation for those courses, an internet connection, an email account, and a CD-ROM drive. We provide all the software for our courses.
Do your courses run on a Mac?
All course material can be used with any web browser. However, the following courses use tools for assignments which are only available for the PC: Professional XML Authoring, Professional Technical Writing, Introduction to XML, and XSL Techniques. In the past, some students have used PC emulators on their Mac to run this software. You can find an emulator at www.connectix.com
